Arne Nordheim was a strange and pioneering figure in Norwegian and international music, especially the contemporary classical music. He did things that had never been done before! That is innovation, and to put your personality on the international maps!

Arne Nordheim had long education, and he had his background in classical music. You should always have enough education, and your should challenge your innovative glasses and pictures with new ideas, new thoughts or better ways to make performances! Hence, he was not a copy of everyone living before him, but he was pioneering and he reached several pioneering advantages as recognition and warmth from many audiences and many people in different countries. He was born in 1931, and he died in 2010. And he was active in music for more than 50 years, and we love his speciality and trying to try something new!

Arne Nordheim received numerous awards for his creativity and new ways of making compositions in music. There is no such things as just a free lunch, but you should manage the freedom and the flexibility in science to do something that is just you, and something that has never been done before. You never find fixed solutions in music, but there are many alternative ways of making success. And Nordheim was a successful musician both nationally and abroad. From 1982, he lived in the Norwegian government's honorary residence, Grotten, next to the Royal Palace in Oslo. Grotten is a place for entertainment and creativity in sciences and in arts, and you get this residence if you are qualified for it, and if you are extremely talented in what you are doing. Arne Nordheim lived in Grotten together with his wife Rannveig Getz, but when Norheim died, his wife had to move! Today, it is the famous author Jon Fosse that lives in Grotten, and he got the availability to it after the government through the culture minister Anniken Huitfeldt had made a decision on it. That decision is always an important and clever decision! Jon Fosse is talented within writing, and the more talents you have, the more opportunities you have in national and in international markets. We will always remember Arne Nordheim and Jon Fosse!

On 18 August 2006, Arne Nordheim received a doctor honoris causa degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He died at the age of 78 and was given a state funeral. Many musicians around the world, will always have their memories to Arne Nordheim! And why do they have their memories? Arne Nordheim was educated from the Norwegian Academy of Music in the years from 1948 to 1952. In the beginning after this school, he was interested in making compositions about electronic affairs. Nordheim studied in Copenhagen and in Paris, and he made music to the interests of radio channels and TV-channels both at home and abroad. So many people discovered his talents within electronic musical language. You should find yourself in the world, and making contributions that people love! Arne Nordheim did just that, although he had some trouble from time to time to be listened to!

Arne Nordheims musical output is focused around themes of solitude, death, love, and landscapes. You should listen to your heart and brain and your education, and make some melodies that are in harmony with your inner motives and your inner philosophy in your mind! Arne Nordheim worked much with orchestras. In 1961 Canzona per orchestra was his international breakthrough. Inspired by Giovanni Gabrieli's canzone, the work shew showcases of Nordheim's historical leanings, as well as his occupation with space as a parameter of music. Nordheim's spatial concerns, coupled with his focus on death and human suffering, are brought together in what is arguably his most famous work, Epitaffio per orchestra e nastro magnetico (1963). Hence, Nordheim was much engaged with making noises in the music, and putting together different musikal instruments to make the music new!

Arne Nordheim was innovative and productive. He used his time in good manners. His later compositions include The Tempest (1979), Klokkesong (1984), Magma (1988), the Violin Concerto (1996) and Fonos for trombone and orchestra (2004).

Arne Nordheim made several compositions, and they made him great in Norway and in foreign countries. He got a number of different prizes from 1975 to 2001. In 1975, he became member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In 1981, he received The Lindeman Prize. In 1990, he got The Arts Council Norway Honorary Award. Hence, Arne Nordheim was much known both in Norway and in Sweden. When you touch a foreign country, you have actually been there in that specific country. In 1993, Arne Nordheim received The Henrik Steffens Prize. In 1997, he got Anders Jahre Cultural Prize together with Gordon Hølmebakk. In 2001, Arne Nordheim received Vestfold Fylkeskommune’s Art Prize, and in 2001 he also got the Oslo Culture Prize. Nobody can be visible without doing visible things, and Arne Nordheim managed that.

Arne Nordheim also made, in his impressive lists of music, compositions for choirs, films and TV-productions. Many people in Norway and abroad admired his being! You should study first, and after that you should do works that have never been done. And it is creativity and flexibility in the works.

And again some music as it was asked to be included! :)
