Article - When lightning and thunder dominate as weather factors in the sky!
What is really lightning? And what is thunder? What do these forces have as explanations? Is there any history about the weather forecasts when the weather is bad?
Lightning can be seen in the sky, and we hear thunder. There is a story behind these forces. Ligthning and thunder has been used of God to show his omniscience and power. It is also used to show Gods burning zeal against sin. If there is too much freedom, and people do not respect or tolerate the justice and how the justice is, there can be much sin in accordance to Gods 10 commandments. But the lightning and thunder should show human minds that God determines the fate of our lives.
In Norse mythology it is told that Tor used the hammer Mjoelner when it was stormy in the weather. It was lightning and thunder when he used the hammer. This is the old history of human minds, and many people have through all conceivable times thought about these things when the weather was badly. When the weather is nice nothing happens.
But what is lightning really? Lightning happens when there occurs sparks in the atmosphere. You will get sparks when positive electricity hits negative electricity. This can occur in one cloud, in two or more than two clouds in the sky, and it can happen between the cloud and the earths foundation. Positive and negative charge is formed due to particles in the precipitation. Hence, when there is different charge in the atmosphere and in the air, one gets ligthning.
What is really thunder then? Thunder is a natural consequence of lightning. Is there is lightning, there will always be thunder, and the number of seconds it takes before coming a thunder determines how long the thunder is away from the place you are when it is happening. The air is heated when the sparks are coming, and the heat can be up to several millions of degrees. The air is expanded when it is warm, and this warm air hits the cold air. And we regard these collisions as thunder. The collisions are waves of warm and cold air!
Sound and light move with different speed. And the light is going faster than the sound, and the sound has a speed of 330 meters per second. You see lightning first, and later on you hear a sound. The thunder is the sound, and if it is about 3 seconds between the lightning and the thunder, the lightning is 1 km away! You can perceive lightning and hear thunder different places, and sometimes the sound is different from time to time, and that has something to do with the waves and where they come from!
Some places in the world has a special distribution in all times for lightning and thunder. Hence, you can be lucky or unlucky about the place you live, and about the place you work. You should never be afraid as a human when it happens, because there are normally few big damages.
