Our democratic systems are broken- Democracy Hijacked
Our democratic systems are broken. Actually they are not as much broken as they are highjacked and have been corrupted from the original meaning. Our societal lack of understanding of what is real democracy is at the root of the issue. Any political crisis we face is largely due to the fact that real democracy barely exists and that we are often governed by people who dont represent the will of the electorate
Leadership and political parties are not truly democratic unless they respond to the will of the voters. Historically we have ample experience with the negative consequences of governments acting unilaterally without the consent of the voters.
Political entities drag societies into war, cause economic deprivation and create laws and policies that we dont agree with and reserve the right to veto.
To solve this lack of civic interaction an online direct democracy platform would let voters make their positions known to each other as well as their representatives.

Democracy gives the illusion of freedom, while stealing freedom from the very people who think they're free. Any system that allows 51% to rule over the 49%, is a system where the individual has lost their own sovereignty, which has been handed over to the ruling class.
Sometimes majority rules sucks because you end up on the wrong side of the vote. Still at least you had a vote and a chance to influence the outcome. Meanwhile our government works on majority rules . Everything is majority rules and if its not its a dictatorship or whatever we have now.
Why should there even be a vote? Why does anyone have the right to vote to negatively effect my life, or anything to do with me for that matter? What you are missing is that in both a democracy, and a dictatorship, there is still a small group of people who have control over the rest of us. Sovereignty has been taken from the individual and given to the ruling class. In reality a democracy is the same as a dictatorship; the "democratic government" chooses what you can vote for, and only gives you two option, you don't have a choice to not be involved; hence you are still enslaved.
The idea behind direct democracy is using tools like referendums etc. it gives the people a voice and yes the people can table proposals in a real democracy. We need a platform for global direct democracy.. Please check my other posts on this subject
I have studied many different versions of democracy, where claims have been made that "this time it will work" however, every single one skips over the problem of freedom of association.
In a free country, doesn't a person have the right to be involved or not? Doesn't everyone have the right to choose who they association with, and what ideas they wish to follow?
A democracy within a free market, or private sector, allows someone to walk away if they are forced to vote, or if the vote does not favour them.
For example; a club member can cancel their membership if he disagrees with a vote, or is forced to vote.
The problem you need to address, is when a persons right to associate is removed, and a vote, referendum or democracy is forced upon the individual, and they are unable to walk away.
For example; when a government forces us to vote for either government A or government B. How about no government?
You are not free when all you are given is a vote on how much exercise time you get in the prisons yard.
Direct democracy is individuals voting on pending proposals one at a time.. Bullshit democracy is voting once every 4 years for a con artist to represent you and make unilateral decisions without your consent. I really dont know what you are talking about.
There's no difference between "direct democracy" and "bullshit democracy". They both force people to comply, they both need an authoritarian body of people to enforce the vote. No one is allowed to 'not be involved' in either types of democracy. They both use collectivism, and ignore the individual; collectivism and democracy always destroys it's self. These are the problems you need to address.
Democracy is mob rule, no matter how you try and re-name it.
