Now, look at the division that exists within the collective-human organism. Do you see the compartmentalization? Do you see how identity drives this division? Social and cultural norms align us with parts of the organism, but are contrary to other parts. “Western, eastern”, are all ways in which we describe the first order of division. Language keeps this division persistent within the organism by keeping open lines of communication closed to all commonality shared between orders of identity; preventing competing identities from aligning.

The subdivision of the collective-human organism becomes increasingly smaller in scope, but it is important to note that all identities held, are competing over control of the organism. Beyond just “eastern and western” comes the nationalistic identity. Identifying on this scale is both dangerous and powerful. Imagine a populace who did not question the actions of their leadership. Self-denial is rampant within lines of identity. Taking credit for when the country does “right” and distancing that identity for whenever the actions of the country does “wrong”, are indications of how identity is relatable to this deniability. As discussed earlier, the concepts of “right” or “wrong” are subjective in nature, and represent two competing concepts, vying for approval.

Populaces of the nationalistic identity are further subdivided within a myriad of smaller, more compact forms of identity. This multi-faceted approach ensures that the populace is never fully able to identify as their true form as this subdivision only allows for a unique combination of identities to feed the smallest order of identity of “self”. We all feel unique due to the institution of identities that exist for which we all align. Two of us may align on most of the identities possible, but there are always lines of deviation when the plethora of possible identities are further analyzed.

As previously mentioned, the identity you hold dictates your interpretation of your surroundings and directly contributes to your reaction towards your environment. We seemingly have little control over our environment, but can have an enormous impact on the rest of humanity. I say this only to show you that we are all interconnected in a larger context, and one that is very necessary for the construct of the collective-human organism. Identity drives actions, which causes reactions from the world around you. Now, I will attempt to describe the “collective-organisms” from which identity dictates reactions and how some of these man-made constructs have taken on a life of their own.

This is a writing segment for The Codex Primum. These writings are created on this platform and I intend on publishing the finished product somewhere in the future. I am a writer by trade, but these beliefs are where I have found myself. I hope you enjoyed the mental exercise this hopefully evoked, and hopefully this provoked a new train of thought, if even for just a moment. Look for more to come in the following days, and follow me. I want to share this journey with whoever is willing to listen...
