A Tanka Poem
I am on a quest to better my poetry by attempting new poetic styles.
Today I randomly selected a Tanka Poem style from Japan. This is basically a Haiku with two additional line at the end and consists of 5 lines and 31 syllables. This poem was inspired by my cats early morning cries for food.
Line 1–5 — - My cat begs for food
Line 2- 7 — - Fuzzy alarm clock so rude
Line 3–5 — - I throw my pillow
Line 4–7 — -Quiet for a moment,bliss
Line 5–7 — -Then I hear menacing hiss
It’s not the best poem, I’ll admit to that. I wrote it in about two minutes while my holding my son and fending on my cats tail from laying on the keyboard. Think I will head back to the writing board.
