RE: Trans Rights As A Lead Balloon For Social Rights

in #writing7 years ago

Hi there @inviter

I am a trans gender individual and I really do not understand what you mean. You are either misinformed or lack decent knowledge of trans issues.

For a start you seem to be focusing on switching gender as defining of trans issues and somehow reinforcing gender stereotypes. If gender equality is your goal then what does it matter if I switch mine or not? It's a logical fallacy.

There are many individuals, such as myself, who do not consider themselves as either male or female. I consider myself third gender or gender fluid for lack of a better term. I also consider myself a feminist.

I find your post sad, because I feel completely under represented even within LGBT community and I see no way in which bringing trans issues harms feminism or any other cause. I have no idea why you feel that our issues are at the centre of attention. They are simply being talked about which is hugely important.

In short, trans individuals have been intentionally created as a third class to act as a lead balloon for social progression.

Nobody created me out of thin air as some kind of conspiracy to harm your freedom. My trans issues were there before I knew what trans meant. Your words are deeply hurtful and unjust. I know many trans individuals for whom gender reassignment was nothing short of life saving. This is very important and should be talked about.

We are real people with real problems. What you are trying to promote here is damaging and dangerous to other people's well being. I am not sure what progress means to you but one thing is clear. I am not a part of it, neither is my spouse, my sister in law and my step daughter's brother to name but few wonderful people.

We are here to stay and won't be silenced.

Please reconsider your stance.
