@aparanoide You are a well versed philosophical thinker and a great writer on Steemit.
One contention I have with your conclusion, which seems to be your opinion that movies < books because reading books inspire imagination and engagement while watching movies are more of a passive, sit back and relax type of activity.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Books, in fact I talked about the importance of Reading Books as a Habit in my latest post. But, I would argue that certain shows and movies are good because they impart knowledge and creativity. I will give you the example of two Netflix Shows that were Sci-Fi (Altered Carbon & Black Mirror). I loved these shows because they were the drivers for a lot of my curiosity for futurology and technology as well as the trends that are driving us right now towards a very high-tech society (Making me a Cyber-punk ;). They not only were entertaining, but they were mind-opening in the sense that they had a lot of value and I would argue that watching those shows inspired me to start reading, learning and thinking about the topics of technology, futurology and disruption that is coming. Because what really good Movies and TV shows are able to do is impart a thought and perspective in a much more concrete way than books can do. Yes you are right, that this flashiness from shows is more of a digital realm vs an imaginative realm that you can immerse in with books. But I would argue that both hold important value.
Regardless, great post and great content @aparanoide, Cheers Mate!
I agree completely, movies can also be enlightening. Thanks for the feedback!
