Better late than never

When I first laid eyes on you,
I fell in love immediately
You were everything I ever dreamed of,
and so much more..
I can't believe 5 years passed already,
it seems like only yesterday?

You gave me a sense of freedom,
a brand new start, a brand new life
little did I know then,
that same freedom was a lie..
and you held me captive
for years to come
you made me believe it was safe
to stay with you?
when in reality,
I should have spend more time without you
in order to grow..
You promised to keep me warm?
when in reality,
you were nothing but cold
and stinky

I am lucky to have seen the light
slowly, I broke free
hating you more and more everyday..
I knew, I had to leave you,
and never look back!
If only I had the strength to do so sooner?

No regrets!
I loved you, yet I hate you
but memories, we share
and for that I am forever thankful..
Onwards to bigger and better things I go!
