Good shout on the cloud backups. I had a computer problem back in March and was able to recover everything to my new computer thanks to Dropbox Pro. For the money, it's really worth it. No messing with external hard drives, and you can configure it in a way that you can "set and forget" as it works in the background.
i use the free ones and just backup and files i need. Its nice to refresh windows install sometimes. It gets bogged down after a while.
