[ STEEMIT POST-MORTEM INVESTIGATION ] IS THERE LIFE AFTER 4 WEEKS OF PAYOUT FOR OUR POSTS?

in #writing8 years ago

I have this nagging question over my head for a few days now. Most of my posts did not earn a bit. After a period between 12 to 24 hours, any post that earns is paid. The next payment, if the post continues to earn after the first payout, is scheduled in 4 weeks time, that is the 2nd payout.

I have been in steemit for only 3 weeks so I cannot say for a fact about being paid in 4 weeks time. Yet another question comes to mind.

After the second payout is given, when do I get paid again IF my post keeps earning? So I looked for posts aged 4 weeks and older. Here's what I found:

(Pardon me @roelandp for using your post as an example.)

I could be wrong here so please correct me. The next payout is after two weeks starting from the most recent payout, which is the second payout of any post received.

Further investigation showed that payout after a month from posting varies from 5 days to 2 weeks. I have not seen any details on this on the #whitepaper or I might have just skipped the math part (not a fan).

But as our post ages through time, the chance of finding it is slim to none. And so is the potential earnings. Unless someone searches for it using the steemit search engine.

In conclusion, our post still earns even after the two initial payouts. Which is good news. The question is: Will it be readily seen to continue earning? The answer is No. And that's the bad news. But there are always ways to "resurrect" the dead post. But that's another topic for another day.

This second payout scheme was implemented recently, probably a few weeks ago, and that's why you don't see it in the whitepaper. Give steemit sometime, we're still a growing community, and things will get better from now on.

If you experienced searching for something relatively unknown on google, sometimes the articles or content can date back to perhaps a few years ago. Probably with tags alone, it might be difficult for others to look at your post in future, but i'm sure if your post happens to solve some problems in future, it will be looked up again. However from my understanding, at the moment, after the second payout. There will be no more payments available. However readers will still be able to upvote your post, to show it as a sign of appreciation. I might be wrong, and if I am, i hope somebody corrects me.

Steem ON!

Thank you for the response and for dropping by. This concern is vital to people like me whose posts didn't make the earnings expected. I believe everyone has worked hard for their posts to get noticed only to see them "down the drain". Thanks for the info especially about searching. Followed.

if you use very specific tags maybe #payouts for this one, then it would be on the active page for that for quite a while, even now when there really isnt much features for historical posts

I agree using specific tags and they really help a lot. Thanks for dropping by. Followed.
