Chukwuma drives an 18 seater bus to make ends meet. He makes approximately about N7000 - N9000 daily, N200 - N300 of which goes to the hungry policemen by the road sides, N3000 which goes to the purchase of Petroleum Motor Spirit and the rest is up for spending.
Chukwuma like every other driver on the road solve our daily transportation needs. Except you have a Private Chauffeur or Have a Uber service constantly at your disposal, we have all been beneficiaries of their daily jobs, driving. However, how safe do you think their job description is?
Deji states that he takes about 500ml of OTC stimulants to keep him active and on the wheels throughout the day and even works a few nights shifts depending on the need for money...In our collective experience, science has proven that the continuous abuse of stimulants, heat waves from machines around the groins and constant inhalation of smoke and dust particles could create lasting effects on our system in the long run.
Nevertheless, in some states across the country, some governments have consented to the opinion of seizing operational rights to the use of private buses in the urban areas and restricted to rural/suburbs. With the exception of Taxis, every other means of transportation seems to operate on illegal basis. While a deadline hadn't been set yet as the matter still lingers among the legislative,... Let's bring the decision home to those it actually matter to. How easy will transport systems from regions be without the availability of buses.
