Making a Good First Impression.

Actions speak louder than words. You may say a million Words to convey your feelings but in the end, its your actions that matter. Winning friends is such an easy task if you make up your mind to work for it. Your ability to make friends all depends on your actions.

The first weapon of attack is your smile. A smile could make a whole lot of difference. To make a good first impression, please show some of those beautiful white teeth.

Meeting someone for the first time, you say, "I am so happy to meet you." Without a smile, what happiness are you trying to convey? We often find ourselves liking people who smile when you meet them for the first time.

People who smile a lot seem to have the most friends, they just radiate happiness and joy around. Therefore, to make a good first impression, smile.

Criticism is one thing most people don't like. Therefore criticising others is a no no. Pointing out mistakes and apportioning blame would just make people dislike you. No one likes a 'bitter' person. I would agree that sometimes, criticism is needed but it never has the desired effect. The person affected is likely to feel attacked and would fight back as a form of defence.

Rather than criticising, try to understand what makes them tick, accept their shortcomings and never criticise them openly, it would only come back to haunt you.

Another important point is appreciation. One of humans greatest desires is our need to be appreciated by others. Words like 'Thank you' or 'I am sorry' can go a long way. For you to win people, you need to learn how to appreciate sincerely. Getting someone to do you a favour is really easy when they know you are going to thank them sincerely for their efforts.

Whatever you do to others, others would surely do to you. If you take others seriously and shoe them the respect they deserve, they in turn would enjoy being around you.

Whenever you are wrong, do not hesitate to admit it immediately. Everyone makes mistakes and you are also human. Funny enough, you gain people's respect when you own up to your mistakes as it is not an easy thing to do. It takes a high level of character to do that.

Listen. We all love a good listener especially one who genuinely listens and is really interested in us. More likes if the person encourages us to talk more about ourselves. So give your full attention and don't let yourself get distracted. Talk to people about what you find interesting about them and ask encouraging questions.

No one loves to be forgotten, the ability to call a person by their names repeatedly shows a level of affection and makes them happy. Everyone likes to hear the sound of their own name.

The next time you meet someone new, make an effort to smile at them, listen and show your sincere appreciation. This increases your chance of making a good impression as we all know, first impressions matter a whole lot.
