The Evil of Materialism in Our Society
The desire to get rich quick, greed, love for material things and social activities have almost caught up with everybody. No wonder it is said that the money is the root of all evil. Man and woman, young and old, have new dimensions of corrupt practice on daily basis.
The main causes of corrupt practice are greed and love for materialistic things. Everybody wants to own as many houses as possible.

Nowadays, it is very possible to hear people boast of having designers this and designers that ranging from shoes down to watches and so on, all centered on fashion. These endless desires lead to different forms of moral disobedience in our society. Corrupt practice are further fueled by desperate politicians.
Another cause of this is traceable to societal value system in which diligence, honesty, honor and integrity are no longer accorded the respect they deserve. Material things now speak louder than good morale. This has also been integrated into the normal way of life, the evil of materialism brought about fast declining state to economy and limited opportunity to the poor.
However, to curb the problem of social vices associated with the high demand for material things requires all hands to be on deck. Our leaders must learn to lead by example. It is not enough for them to condemn corruption on the pages of newspapers and not to show good examples.
Imagine a winner in a pageant show goes home with a car, house rent for a year and a modelling contract deal all for just putting up some clothes and make-up, but a brilliant student who performs very well in an examination or in a competition will be given just calculator and laptop. Yet we are told that education and good morale win s it. What an irony when people are mostly paid for just putting up some materials on and show casing some parts of their body. You ii is clear that our society is also contributing greatly to this problem.
Let us practice what we teach.
Our society has been on a long road down the path of materialism and has hooked almost everyone. Unfortunately our leaders are the least likely to give us good examples. So many of them are corrupt and/or very much caught up in the materialism game. We much each from the grass roots up realize that materialism alone will never make one happy. Good to be posting and bring awareness to the subject.
The rate at which we crave for material things is seriously causing us to do anything even if they are not legit just to achieve that desire. Thank you for coming around.
I have never been very materialistic. I could never understand why more value seemed to be placed on companies, products and such rather than the people, and all life for that matter, and kindness. In this world we live in a certain amount of money is necessary to survive, but so much better things could be done with money than all the "stuff" that so many people buy and what the elite collect.
