In all seriousness, this is a very well-thought-out piece and I'm definitely going to try out the character arc exercise with some of my Write Club works.
If I remember the recommended length on those properly, you may find you really need to simplify if you go for something super tight like microflash. But it's always a good idea to make sure you have a character arc if you want a powerful story. A few genres, like mystery, are often more plot driven, but the story is always better if it has both
