They painted over some art today
at the little place
where I like to get lunch

It was this staggering mural
graffiti, a brick wall of feelings
and passionate hues
fiery orange and prismatic
cerulean
reminds me of oxygen

I take a breath in.

Now it’s black as a smoker’s lung
in the name of “community space”
begging to breathe again

Hey all! I wrote this when I got home today because this actually happened this afternoon. I'm really sad to see it go, especially to bare black paint.
