Jimmy dreams of being an NBA basketball star when he grows up. He watches all the games, absorbs the advice in the interviews, memorizes all the plays, and reads all the reports and stats he comes across.

His teachers note that he is a basketball expert. He knows all there is to know about the sport and the players- how they got there, even how high they can jump, down to the centimeter.

But he will never be accepted by the NBA.

Why? You must practice the sport. Perform the activity in real life.

Do you want to be a writer?

Just write.

You can read all the articles and books on how to write, but no amount of information and knowledge will do you any good if you do not practice.

Yes, absolutely continue reading and learning and refining your craft!

But to be a good writer, you must actually perform the activity in real life.

Read as much as you write. But practice writing as much as you can. Every pro was once an amateur, and every amateur was once a beginner. But they got to be pros by starting, not thinking about starting or reading about starting.

So dream big and start now.

Steemit is a wonderful place to refine your writing skills. The community is so supporting and encouraging! You will never find a better place to grow!

Just write!

Trust me, you will always be your worst critic. You will find fault in your work. But that is the beauty of this community, we help each other and grow together.
