Duped Into Deception With Its Own Inward Consequences.....

in #writing6 years ago

In an excellent book I read and learned allot from called "Deceit and Self Deception", by Robert Trivers. (Penguin Books, 2013). The author in a most convincing and broad way describes how people which routinely indulge in lies, twist, manipulating (besides often bragging), in the end dig their own departure.

Because over time these types think most all others do the same they deduce “its the norm in this often unjust and turmoil-ed world -so I matters’ well be of the same fabric”. If you can’t beat them, join them.

They talk themselves into becoming similar around what they practice. They become what they are. The trap becomes that in the end this persona become mistrusting and cynic and can’t differentiate anymore truth, facts & purity, from deception. They develop a deep disposition problem of general mistrust at every level which results in bitterness or recluse, a total cynic -or worse. Again, they become what they got to believe.

As this award winning author states, “even before we can speak we learn to cry insincerely in manipulating our caregivers” Further noting, “the more we believe our own lies, the more sincerely and hence effectively we can lie to others”.

This person ends up believing in nobody anymore because they get to believe everything is suspect. They are susceptible to at times false statements, in a flip flopped way. Like the saying “every story has two sides”, confusing that when one side is a lie, there are no two sides. People of such character often make poor investors as they trust no one since they believe there is trickery and deception everywhere They presume it’s a way and the usual norm of life they got to believe.

As time goes on and their disposition germinates they become more and more part of that kernel. Trusting few, believing nobody, constantly assuming there must be a hidden agenda or plan…they end up increasingly believing somewhat legitimate, schemes like: “We all have our own personal interpretation about things, somewhat related to the truth, influenced by our own upbringing and dysfunctions. In other words, we see the world from our point of view and our pain, not the way it really is”. Implying there are no facts, no real integrity, honesty or truth out there… that its all sort of convoluted. Mischief or innocently so, but so nevertheless a part of their character and beliefs.

As the years go by it moulds up to that ever more and more. They reason why believe or trust what anybody says as its at best distorted and at worst made up or manipulated to ones’ own benefit. A wrongly and sadly assumed modus operandi.

Over the years, this wariness tears on their fabric and character which then sort of rusts out any "good of mankind" to a lower level denominator, all because they believe in it so much it becomes reality…and so in time is their own kind of demise to despair. But then again we all have our own demise of one kind or another?
