I Had Writer's Block... so I Wrote About Having Writer's Block

in #writing7 years ago (edited)

So I was having one of those days where I didn't know what to blog about on Steemit. Sure there are tons of things I could write about but I'm always wanting to cover something new.

I was just sitting in my chair and staring at this box:

Minutes passed and I never wrote down a single thing. I am also distracted by other things that I am doing on the computer but I've been wanting to get a post done. I was having writer's block. It happens to almost everyone that writes and it can be a frustrating time.

So I decided to do just write about my writer's block and thought I would share some things I came across that could help if any of you are having this problem.

Writing about a writer’s block is better than not writing at all.

Some Solutions

  • Go for a walk/run - Get your blood flowing and enjoy the change in scenery.

  • Change your environment - You may be in a usual space when trying to write a blog post on Steemit, maybe try move to a different room if you can.

  • Listen to music - change it up and listen to different genres.

  • Read - Find something to read whether it be a book or other Steemit posts, this could help stir up some ideas on what to write.

  • Talk to someone - Have a conversation with someone or spend time with friends and family. This could get your mind off trying to focus so hard on writing something and eventually you'll have something to write about.

  • Go have fun - Enjoy a little get away from the computer and have a little fun. A joyful mood can create a lot to write about.

  • Get some rest - Maybe you spent many hours on Steemit or just online doing different things. Take a little rest, relax, or even take a nap and get a little refreshed to start tackling another post.

  • Eat - Have a little snack or eat a meal. You might of neglected to eat something from being on Steemit for so long and having some food in your stomach may help.

There are so many other solutions you can try since everyone is different. This is some that I have found to help me in the past and even with this post. Once I started, it became easier for me to continue writing more and gain momentum.

I hope these solutions help some of you and all I can say is...

STEEM ON!!!

Hey @bitcoinparadise... Sometimes we overthink our ideas. We wonder if the topic will add value. I recently posted on creating a custom Gif. At first, I wasn't going to post because it seems so basic to me. Then, my husband reminded me that although my technology tips seem basic to me because of my marketing background, they are valuable to others. So, I turned off the chatter in my head about me, what would people think, and focused on others, how can I help someone new.

What I love about your post is that it shows that if your 💓 is to share value, your post will reflect value.

So, your sign-off "Steem On" says it best... To me, that's like Nike's Just do it. Don't second guess yourself into paralysis analysis. 🤣🤣🤣 Adore you to pieces!!!

I appreciate your comments so much. It makes blogging on here worth it. That should be all our goals is to inspire and pass knowledge to others to be better than we are.

Many of us been through the ups and downs on here and it's important to continue to create content here. Steemit is only almost a year and a half old. Many people expect to start making what they see others make on here and not realized that many of those that earn larger rewards have been creating content on Steemit for over a year. Some get support quickly while most took a while to finally get it. That's why investing in STEEM is important and so is the content you create. So I say "STEEM ON!!!" , to keep blogging and don't be discouraged if you are not earning that much on your posts. You eventually build strategies, find support and things will turn around.

I apologize if I haven't been commenting lately. I just been so busy with other projects for Steemit and in life. Thank you always for your kind words @karencarrens 😊

Of course, dropping in on my peeps is one of my favorite things to do! I love when I pop in and there's a new post with a new nugget. You rock!

Hey @bitcoinparadise

Thanks for inspiring me to write this comment. I don't have any idea what I am going to say but I am just writing this comment to break my writer's block.

Being a blogger I can relate with the situation, we have tone of knowledge but we still face it. One of the reason is trying to be PERFECT, I think it's one of the biggest factor we procrastinate because we want to be next Shakespeare and want to write a master piece.

If we want to get our thoughts heard then we must be raw and natural and the fact is world enjoys it.

Upvote if you agree.

Yes, there are many reasons and usually, those are the main ones.

Just have to remember sometimes, this is social media. Just sharing something simple can be enough to others.

When we talk about writers block and writing a blog post. We have to face Writer's Block. It seems a daunting and boring task that we never fill inspired to get our hands on keyboard.

I think, the key is just get started and edit, edit and edit your article when you feel it's error-free and okay to be read.

Same thing happens to me when trying to think of something to draw. Sometimes, I draw about thinking about something to draw.

When I read your post, you are so good, how to use the word to be a sentence, good writing, and some photos with perfect laying procedures, beautiful scenes when you immortalize an image in the object, in addition to a good way of taking it The image is taken too good.

Thank you for the kind words. I try :)

I was just sitting here doing the same thing, what a coincidence. The writers block part anyway, not writing about writers block :) thanks for the tips. Maybe after a day out, I can put my words to paper (screen)

Yea, Try some of those tips and I'm sure you'll be writing away in not time.

Thanks again. I'm stuck on title right now but spending the day out hoping it comes to me :)

Beautiful! You are not stuck, you are free! Starring at a blank screen can lead to enlightenment, just let go of your writing intention. lol

I'm not sure if the comment was for me or @beccadeals but thanks for the comment :)

I started trying to write SOMETHING everyday this year, and one morning I couldn't figure out what to write, so I wrote this:

What do you want to write today?
A fantasy, history, play?
Perhaps a Thought,
Better than Naught,
To say I did, so yay.

The world is burning tis true,
Your family depending on you,
But for once a day,
Steal away
And pretend to be something you are not.

I may be slow in reality
But I fly in my imagery.
Occasionally Precise
The logic is nice
At least it makes sense imaginarilly.

This thought exercise, a fail
I still can’t decide, so I bail
Off to work I suppose
An intellect holding his nose
To sit at a desk for my kale.

Interesting. That can help get things started to just freewrite.

Thanks a lot for these tips. We all have days when we do not know what to post

nice post my friend
