Terry Gilliam Lecture and Book signing

Terry Gilliam is an incredibly talented, and extremely influential screenwriter, film director, animator, actor and comedian. His unique style, fearless stance, and cynical humor has earned the respect and adoration from legions of fans, both cult and mainstream. Although Terry's done 12 feature films, most notable to me is his time being a member of the Monty Python crew.

I saw Terry lecture last year in support of his book, Gilliamesque, and it was mind-blowing to hear him talk about his extensive career. I was hanging on his every word, as he went on about Monty Python, working with John Cleese, and everyone trying to keep a straight face during the filming of the Black Knight scene. He also went into 12 Monkeys a little, comparing the acting styles of Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. I'm only mentioning this because it's kinda funny. He said Willis could be drinking tea one minute, and in character the next. No matter how insane or dramatic the scene was. Pitt, on the other hand, stayed in character the whole time. " You know what crazy is?".

Terry also did the screenplay for Hunter S. Thompson's book, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in which Johnny Depp plays Hunter. It stays true to the book. "This is bat country!"
