"Call" in English language.

Generally word "Call" is used in English to say and speak to someone.. But interestingly there are different prepositions in english language which completely change the meaning of call.. Let's check out some different uses of call..

Call On.
It means to visit someone for a short time.. I called on my friend but she was not at home.

Call for.
It means to require something. It calls for a great leadership skill to solve this crisis.

Call out.
It means to summon. the police was called out twice but no action was taken.

Call off.
It means to finish. Keeping in view the short time, the meeting had to call off.

Call up.
It means to make a phone call. My friend called me up last night but i was sleeping.

Call forth.
It means to become cause of something. His bitter remarks called forth his insult.

Call in.
It means to order. I called in four burgers at the cafe.

Call upon.
It means to appeal or to invite. I called upon him, to make his promise true.
