Bringing past behaviours to light

Victor's mother always reminded him of his past anytime they had a little fight,she would remind him about how they wanted to have him aborted,how she almost died during childbirth and all.Victor did some terrible things in the past,and he wasnt really proud of himself, he was trying everything possible to turn a new leaf, but his family just wont let go of the past,always bringing up how he stole something,and other ugly things he had done.
This made Victor always sad and angry,and often times he wondered if he really was a member of that family,and not an adopted orphan or a street kid they just pitied and took in.
From this story,I would like to call our attention on two things. First , as parents,we should NOT bring back into light any bad behaviour of your child when he does a new one or when quarreling or scolding. This makes the child feel very bad and have low self esteem,they tend to feel that whatever they do is not right and they can never be better. Also reporting bad behaviours of your children to the public doesnt help. Public here includes neighbours,your child's friends and random outsiders. It makes people have a bad perspective about the child,and knowing that everybody knows his mistakes and misdeeds,he wont be able to walk shoulders high in the society.
The second thing I want to point out is,you should try as much as possible not to do things that will make people speak ill of you. Sometimes,its our past bad behaviours that make people especially parents get all aggressive and angry at us.This mostly happens when your other siblings are of good behaviour and you are the only bad egg, and trust me,whenever one is angry,it is very hard to filter words.
So I would like to encourage us,as parents ,we should learn to 'forget' our childrens' past bad behaviours and avoid bringing back the past everytime a situation arises. Also, children should try their best possible not to give their parents reason to scold them- by being on their best behaviour always.
