Hello World, hear me roar

Critical in the steem blockchain technology is the idea of concensus. In real world terms concensus is how everything gets done; we have an idea, talk out the risks and rewards, seek funding, and well you probably know the rest.

In society we need concensus. Without the ability to find concensus our own nature would likely tear society apart as our tribal instincts took over and we realize its easier just to kill the other person than explain in depth what you mean and how you came to your conclusion.

Socially speaking, consesus is that thin line between conservatives and liberals where we shake hands across a seemingly endless sea of differences. Its deciding where to eat dinner without both people saying idk then getting frustrated with each other, thereby widening the gulf between them.

It seems to me that society has entered a low point in its willingness or ability to find consensus. I dont need to exain it, you get it. Until steem. Since posters who seek to find consesus with the greatest number of individuals in capitalized social media environment will benefit the most, the SMT acts as a psychological force.

One can imagine political discussions being filled with real content instead of wanton insults when 50% of the audience wont vote for the insult. Its almost like steemit is your parents paying you to be good on social media.

Obviously the effects of the SMT will be vast and diverse and no utopia is a garantee, but ill tell you what I tell everyone i meet: "The world's going to be fine." Most of what gives me confidence is projects like steem, who see the best aspects of our human nature, and help us capitalize on them.
