Lost In A Glimpse(Episode 10)

Stephanie was devastated as she drove along the somewhat deserted road. Speeding along the lonely road she was deeply troubled, almost to the point of panic. Her trip to the maximum security prison was unsuccessful. She shook her head as the words of the prison officials replayed repeatedly in her head.
"Mr Fubara Daniel is not in our custody at the moment"
More disturbing was the reason for this absence.
"He was shot in a prison riot and was taken to hospital"
She bit her finger as she sped on. She wanderd what has become of him. Being a doctor, she knew how life threatening a gunshot be. As she shivered on the steering wheel, she tried to remember the name of the hospital...
"Olive branch clinic", she muttered as her eyes searched the entire street.
    Meanwhile shade had just come out of Benjamin's office. She had a big envelope in her hand. She smiled mischievously as sh walked to the private corner where she will savour her newly acquired treasure. At last, she had the coveted document - the result of the DNA test. The proof that Stephanie is of the same bloodline with the cadaver. She carried the well sealed envelope like a trophy, holding it with pride like spoils from a well fought battle. She held it, walking gracefully to doctor Ayo's office.
  In a short while she was seated in doctor Ayo's office, the envelope in her hand still properly sealed. Smiling as she looked at Ayo, she felt proud of her achievement.
" I've done as you said. Here's your document "
She stretched her hand towards Ayo who made no attempt to take it. Shade was perplexed. She frowned as she withdrew her hand slowly.
"What's the problem?", she inquired.
" well, i don't need it anymore "
"That's it?"
"That's it"
But what about my......
Ayo opened the drawer, brought out a bundle of bank notes and passed it to her. That's your money..... 100k.
She received the money, putting it in her handbag without counting it.
Sitting back a little, she folded her arms as she looked even more perplexed.
"But why?"
"Well.... Like I said......"
"But Ayo, I need an explanation"
Ayo became impatient.
"You have your money. Why not walk away as if nothing happened"
Shade by came desperate and she pressed on.
"I didn't understand why you asked me to do it in the first place and now I don't understand why you're backing out. Please tell me something"
Ayo saw that it was a dead end and so he budged.
"Alright! I'll tell what it wall all about but you must be discreet okay?"
"Okay"
"Now listen"
