Oh my, I am falling over laughing, here. You know what the real problem is? When our 16-week Write Club adventure is over, I’m going to suffer life-threatening withdrawal! It’s so much fun working alongside you and the other writers. You challenge me and make me laugh, and have such wildly different perspectives that my head is reeling. But that is what’s so great. Writing is a perspective-challenged feat, and being involved with a group that lends perspective is incredible. We may need an alumni club.
Anyway, it was the charming Ms. @tanglebranch who brought us the additional metaphor of the pill bug and the swimming pool. 😊
The idea, which really helped us all to round out our views of how to implement the metaphor prompt, came from a story she read about a victim of abuse. The pill bug, on his back in the pool and helpless, metaphorically represented the boy’s helpless plight. (Did I get that right, Tangle?)

You got the metaphor right Jayna :) and i think you're right about the alumni club! We can all polish our stories up together and support each other through the submussion roller coaster!

P.s. I have a 16 year old daughter, and the story had a similar effect on me. I almost couldn’t read the story.
