Should WWE Break Up Enzo and Big Cass?

in #wrestling7 years ago

Enzo Amore and Big Cass are an interesting tag team. On the one hand they are extremely over with the WWE universe. On the other, Enzo is accident prone and somewhat sloppy in the ring. Before we get too far into this, I am a HUGE fan of this tag team and wish they had the tag team titles already. I don't want to see them broken up but their gimmick is getting a little old. Enzo needs to work on the intro a bit like he does the section after they reach the ring. With that being said, let's discuss why breaking them up right now, while they are hot, is a actually a good idea.

First, breaking them up, Enzo could qualify for the Cruiserweights division. Big Cass would obviously be able to hold his own in singles competition (he has done so in the past while Enzo was recovering from an injury sustained against the Vaudevillians). That is not the only reason to break them up (certainly not the "best").

The best reason to break them up is to put Enzo in the very missed position of being a manager for Big Cass. Take the idea of Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar but obviously have Enzo go wild on the mic. Maybe even have Enzo getting the mic during the match and distracting Cass's opponent for an easy win.

Enzo could easily revitalize the manager position. Back in the day nearly every wrestler had a manager of some sort. Even Hulk Hogan had a few (who knows at least one?). It used to be commonplace to have managers in tow with superstars. Managers were a good way to legitimize a match between two, or more, wrestlers that would otherwise be hard to justify seeing compete against each other. Who doesn't remember the classic crap that Mr. Fuji got Demolition involved in? Or Bobby Heenan and the Heenan Family? Some of the most iconic matches in wrestling history may not have occurred had it not been for the manager.

Enzo being the manager would allow WWE to get around the entrance gimmick getting old and keep the team from using at every event. This could be accomplished by having Cass run past Enzo, interrupting the intro, and jump in the ring starting the match. This would help break things up a bit and could lead to a bit of heat between the two (like any good manager/talent combo should have from time to time).

Enzo could bring that back to WWE. It is an aspect that is missing from current wrestling shows. From WWE to TNA to ROH, managers are missing from nearly all of them. Putting Enzo in this position would still allow him to compete from time to time, or get involved with matches as he could be physical (more so than most managers in the past) and make it believable.

(I'm off to bed soon, so I didn't read this, but I will comment to leave myself a bookmark.)

Not yet. Cass is not a strong enough promo to survive on his own, and Enzo would sink without Cass. Nothing wrong with having an over tag team stick together for a while, even though WWE loves to break up over tag teams because once a certain somebody turned heel by throwing his partner through a barbershop windowd, and become a star on his own.

More often than not, tag teams sink when they're separated.

I still get a kick out of their entrance and "ya can't teach that!"
Hope they don't split.

I do too. They are one of the few highlights of entertainment on Monday Night Raw. I really think they should be on Smackdown as a tag team before any potential breakup.
