I have had a worm farm at home for over 10 years now, in fact I now have four.

To get started is easy, and cheap.

Here are the steps to successful worm farming at home:-

1 Buy a worm farm
WORM CAFE.jpg

  1. Buy 1000 worms

  2. Follow the set up instructions for the worm café / farm

  3. Once your set up, add your worms....No food yet as they will feed on the bedding supplied in the worm café.

  4. After two weeks start adding food scraps - Only a small amount!!

  5. Add shredded paper/cardboard

  6. Wait another week....add some more food...again small amount...handful.

  7. By now your worms will begin to multiply. They breed and take 6 weeks to hatch from their cacoons. (Yellow Eggs)

  8. Keep adding paper/cardboard, ensure they are kept moist not wet, and at between 18-25 degrees Celcius

  9. And your away. Feed only what you think they are consuming...too much food will cause the system to smell.

  10. Flies: If you encounter small flies cover the top of your worms with newspaper and wet it.

Hope this helps you get started, its easy as I have said. If you have any questions please feel free to ask away.

Happy Worming!

What do you do with all the worms?

As the worms breed they consume more and more food. You can even use them for fishing bait.
Once the first tray is full you add the next tray on top and repeat. Once you add the last tray (third) you can begin to harvest the worm casing (Shit) at add to your garden. I will go over that in my next post.3
