Worldview Schism

In my article The Human Brain, I explored the imbalances that occur when the Neocortex is not functioning properly; when one side of the brain is dominant over the other. A person can suffer from either a left, or right brain imbalance, and sometimes both. These brain imbalances are the causes of the worldviews held by most people.

An extreme left brain imbalance leads the Randomness worldview. This worldview favours the belief that the universe was a cosmic accident, not the result of a higher power or force that intelligently created and governs the workings of nature. In this view, Natural Law does not exist. Believers in Randomness feel there is no real purpose in existence. Life is an accident that came from nothing, and will return to nothing. There is no such thing as truth or objective morality. Randomness leads to several of the left brain imbalanced ideologies we observe today. I will attempt to give a brief explanation of some of them;

Solipsism - There is no Truth. We get to decide what is true based on our perceptions.

Moral Relativism - There is no objective morality or right & wrong. We get to make it up as we go along.

Social Darwinism - Survival of the Fittest.

Eugenics - We have the right to decide who lives and who dies. This includes genetic manipulation and selective breeding; essentially playing God.

Atheism, Scientism and the Big Bang Theory are all examples of belief systems rooted in this worldview.

The opposite of Randomness is Determinism; a worldview reflecting an extreme right brain imbalance. Determinists typically believe a deity or deities, control every event in creation, and everything is preordained. Everything is happening according to God's will or plan. There is no free will, no power to affect change, and we have no input in our lives. Religious fundamentalism and religious extremism are hallmarks of this imbalanced worldview.

Both of these worldviews are wrong. The universe is a combination of both random and deterministic components.

The Deterministic component of our reality is Natural Law. These are the laws that are in effect in the universe, and the only laws we are truly bound by. They are objective and cannot be changed or broken. Natural Law principles govern all life and evolutionary progress. These laws do not require our belief for them to be in effect in our lives.

For example; The law of gravity does not require belief or understanding for it to operate. If you jump off a cliff, you will fall. The law of gravity does not care if a person believes they can fly, or if a baby is too young to understand gravity . The law exists, and we are bound by it. Our goal should not be to overcome these Laws of Nature, but to align our actions with them so we can live in peace and harmony.

I will explore the Laws of Nature in depth in future articles. In brief they can be described as follows:

The Principle of Mentalism

"The All is mind; The universe is mental." Everything had to exist in the mind first. This principle explains that all life "may be considered and thought of as a universal, infinite, living mind and that the universe is simply a mental creation of The All (God)."

The Principle of Correspondence

"As above, so below; as below, so above." This principle explains that there is always a correspondence between the various planes of being and life. There are planes and phenomena beyond our knowing, but when we apply the principle of correspondence we are able to understand what would otherwise be unknowable to us, because the universe is self similar across scales.

The Principle of Vibration

"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates." This principle has been proven by modern scientific discoveries in quantum physics. "The difference between different manifestations of matter, energy, mind and spirit result largely from varying rates of vibration. The higher the vibration, the higher the position in the scale."

The Principle of Polarity

"Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything is pairs of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree."

The Principle of Rhythm

"Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything."

The Principle of Cause and Effect

The golden rule, also known as Karma. "Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause; everything happens according to Law; chance is but a name for Law not recognised." In biblical teachings this was explained as,"Do unto others as you want done unto yourself." or"Do not do unto others as you do not want done unto yourself." (Buddhism)

The Principle of Gender

"Everything has masculine and feminine principles. Gender manifests on all planes. No creation is possible without the principle of gender. Every male has a female element, and every female has a male element."

These descriptions were taken from a small book called The Kybalion, a study of the hermetic philosophy of ancient Egypt and Greece, by Three Initiates. I highly recommend this book if you wish to gain a deeper understanding of Natural Law principles.

The Random component of our reality is our Free Will. We are operating within Natural Law boundaries, but free will allows us to choose between the dynamics of love and fear. This determines what our experience will be.

It is the deterministic component of Natural Law combined with the random component of our Free Will that ultimately shapes our experience. If we bring our free will into harmony with natural law (instituted by the creative force for our betterment), we will have peace, harmony and freedom. If we refuse we will be going around the wheel of suffering until we accept the path forward.
