This week we're taking an Up North Trip to Sweden to showcase one of the veterans of the Hip Hop scene and Loop Troop Rockers, the one and only Promoe right here on World Of Hip Hop

Talar I Rimar

There is so much to be said about this well known Swedish Emcee, but I'd like to start by saying that back in 2003 I was a part of a collaboration between Malaysian Hip Hop artists Too Phat and 3 other emcees from around the globe including Promoe from Sweden. Before the collabo was even conceived I'd found out about him and his group - Loop Troop - from the brother Illsteez, who produced the song "6 MC's". So let me begin this segment with a video to give you a bit of background to how this all relates to the post (by the way it's me @vandigital writing today).

Promoe released his first album way back in 1996 and it was titled "Fuck A Record Deal" so you can imagine what kind of vibe a young rebellious Swedish Emcee was coming with from the get go. For me personally, I got to know him through his 2001 release "Government Music" and in particular the track "Freedom Writers".

Now with 10 albums under his belt, Promoe has gone back to recording and releasing music with his longtime group Loop Troop and is focused more on a Reggae vibe with a solo released entitled "Run Deep".

Let's get back to the Hip Hop though... Promoe has always (in my book) been a conscious Hip Hop artist who creates music with a message. His lyricism and mastery of the English language, as well as his use of Swedish, ranks him among some of the best with a style of delivery that you can tell is influenced by Reggae and classic Boom Bap Hip Hop. I want to share my personal favorite song from him that I could really relate to when I first heard it. "Poor Lonesome Homeboy"

And the latest from [Promoe)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promoe and his crew right here it's "Loose After Midnight" Ft Timbuktu that dropped back in Feb 2018.
