Laca-Arsenal We Love To See

It was a good feeling for Arsenal who returned to winning ways in the English Premier League with a 0-3 away win at bottom-placed Sheffield United courtesy of a brace from Alexander Lacazette and a Gabriel Martinelli goal.

Although it was what many would tag a dead-rubber game, as Sheffield United are more or less to be relegated, it was, however, a needed moral booster for the Arsenal side.

The North London side came into the game without their captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who was out unwell, David Luiz, Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe, who has been in fine form since breaking into the first team.

As expected, Arsenal saw more of the ball and weren't looking as profligate like they were in the Europa League match against Slavia Prague.

In what reminisced of the Arsene Wenger era type of football with their one-touch sleek passing, Arsenal combined well to set up Lacazette for a fine Thierry Henry-esque finish to put his side ahead after 33 minutes.

Gabriel Martinelli, who was returning to the first team after a long lay off almost gave Arsenal another injury scare as he clashed with a Sheffield player. He was, however, able to shrug it off and continue the game. Moments later, he picked up the ball within the six-yard box to tap in a rebound after Aaron Ramsdale had spilled Nicolas Pepe's effort. It was the Brazilian's first league goal since he last scored that wonder goal against Chelsea in January 2020.

Lacazette, who was the biggest culprit in their 1-1 draw at home to Slavia Prague in the Europa League got his brace with five minutes of play left, after being put through by a clinical pass from Thomas Partey. The Ghanaian getting his second assist in an Arsenal shirt.

The former Lyon star becomes the fourth French player to score 50 league goals for Arsenal after Thierry Henry, Oliver Giroud and Robert Pires. He now has 12 league goals this campaign.

The win takes Arsenal back into 9th position, four points off European spots and will now switch attention to the return leg of their Europa League quarterfinal tie in Prague.

The team will have to assess the fitness of Bukayo Saka, who was substituted during game, after feeling discomfort in his tigh, Gabriel Martinelli and Aubameyang ahead of the must-win game.

One may argue that the game was one the Gunners were expected to win as Sheffield United are relegation-bound, it once again showed that Arsenal are capable of doing big things if the stopped being their own problems.
