Who is to blame if your self driving vehicle crashes or causes injury? Well, if you haven’t updated the software. The answer is, you. The vehicle manufacturers are trying to create vehicles with an autonomous capability, but are now trying to shift the blame of accidents and thefts on the driver. Why? Insurance payouts of course. Insurance payouts could soon be arguably gone from the drivers list of concerns because why would any driver ever be responsible for road accidents if the cars are driving themselves? Auto-makers are arguing drivers will still be responsible for accidents whilst at the wheel, even if on auto pilot. The liability falls on the manufacturer only if there is a clear mechanical fault or an error in the software.
Scientists are now growing Diamonds in microwaves. Using a small fragment of diamond they are able to “grow” the diamond using Carbon heavy gas application technology. “Carbon Seeding” is now replacing the often murky world of diamond resourcing with a possible market reach of 20 million carats in the next eight years. This laboratory method is so successful in creating larger diamonds from tiny originals, people now need machines to tell them apart from the real McCoy. A diamond grown in a lab is more ethical, environmentally friendly and much cheaper! It is also identical in physical structure.
Russians are being hit with new sanctions. The Russian Ruble has dropped 3.3 percent to 60.1 against the US dollar, the furthest globally since 2014. The MOEX Russia Index fell 8.7%, VTB Bank dropped 12% and The United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority suspended trading of any En+ shares (Russian energy company). 50 of Russia’s richest have lost $12bn including metals tycoon Vladimir Potanin, steel tycoon Oleg Deripaska, Russia’s Federation Councilman Suleiman Kerimov and businessman Viktor Vekselberg. This all unfolded since the US warned of “big price to pay” for the recent chemical weapons attack in Syria. Saying President Vladimir Putin and Iran “are responsible for backing Animal Assad.”
In 2017 the following countries spent this much on renewable energy, in dollars (in ascending order): United Kingdom 7.6bn, Australia 8.5bn, Germany 10.4bn, India 10.9bn, Japan 13.4bn, United States 40.5bn and China 126.6bn. This huge leap from China into renewable energy, shaming the next best competitors combined really does a lot for the reputation of China. Since being the worlds largest emitter of greenhouses gases the perception of this eastern power house is often negative and not thought of as conducive to a healthy planet Now however the Chinese are the worlds largest solar energy producers and are now investing heavily in Hydro-Power, they are leading the way into a greener future. Only three countries of our planets 195 are responsible for 63% of global investments in renewable energy.
Japan is lifting a ban. On growing human organs in other animals to harvest later when needed. Using a genetically modified animal embryo, we are now able to inject Human organ cells inside which then grow as they would in a human. The animal receiving this Genetically modified embryo would then give birth to offspring harbouring human organs. The Japanese panel of the Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ministry have made it clear however the line must not be blurred between humans and animals. The Human pluripotent stem cells must stay clear of the animals brain. Prof. Hiromitsu Nakauchi from the University of Tokyo said they will now create a human pancreas inside of a pig.
Predictors of problematic smartphone use are: lack of distress tolerance, lack of mindfulness and anxiety sensitivity. Jon D.Elhai et al write a paper named “Distress tolerance and mindfulness mediate relations between depression and anxiety sensitivity with problematic smartphone use” in Journal ‘Computers in Human Behaviour’. “Excessive, problematic smartphone use (PSU) has demonstrated relationships with depression and anxiety severity… Results are discussed… with clinical implications for emotion regulation skills training and mindfulness in offsetting Problematic smartphone use.”
