We have already blown up 1000+ nukes just for testing purposes. So those 100 nukes have to be gigantic like the "tšarbomba".

The Tsar Bomb was 50 000 kT ! There goes the theory of 100 bombs. And another thing to consider is that most bombs are hydrogen bombs, they don't have much fallout. Times have changed since "The Fat Man"(Hiroshima bomb)

Yeah...while doing my research, I came across this logic too. But people who conducted the research were adamant that their findings had been thoroughly checked and rechecked.
