Fire in the Chernobyl zone extinguished

The forest fire in the closed zone around the closed Chernobyl nuclear power station in northern Ukraine has been extinguished - the Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported on Saturday.

More than 100 firefighters and airplanes and helicopters participated in the firestorm that broke out on Thursday. The fire spread over an area of ​​25 acres of forest land.

The cause of the fire was burning fire while working on the construction of the railway line. On Friday the Ukrainian authorities stated that the fire did not lead to increased radiation and ensured that it was normal.

The Chernobyl nuclear power plant crash occurred on April 26, 1986. The explosion of the fourth reactor of the gym led to the contamination of parts of the territories of present-day Ukraine and Belarus. Radioactive substances have also reached Scandinavia, Central Europe, including Poland, as well as the southern continent, to Greece and Italy. In the Chernobyl area, people are still prohibited from settling.
