Kostel 🏰 Castle - Slovenia - A Surprise Awaits Us... STEEM Trip 🌞

It was a beautiful morning here in Slovenia. Sunny, not too warm in the morning hours but it's a great opportunity to get some fresh air into our body. Sees the opportunity at every chance you get...

Kostel

I'm living in Dolenjska region for about two years now and I have to admit it was my first time visiting this cool castle. The problem was when we arrived there, all access to it was closed to the public. But we found a way in but more about it in just a minute. Also, the wealth of water in the region represents enormous potential (the Kolpa River, Nežica Waterfall, numerous springs, streams, Costella, etc.) and a significant competitive advantage over other destinations. The Costella natural mineral water bottling plant is located in Kostel.

Kostel Castle

Its main landmark from which the settlement and the municipality are named is Kostel Castle, built on a cliff above the Kolpa Valley. The castle is surrounded by a small market settlement. It dates to the 13th century with various additions over the centuries and was an important defense fortification against Ottoman raids. The Ottoman wars in Europe were a series of military conflicts between the Ottoman Empire and it was also occupied in the 16th century by the Turks, who deceived the castle's inhabitants by dressing up as Croatian peasants. Various European states dating from the Late Middle Ages up through the early 20th century. Amazing place and some great views as well, perfect for meditation and such things...

On the way up theres a little church called Holy Magi Church, quick look...

Okay so we get to these doors after passing the church, of course, their locked but they should think first how high can we climb, it was "easy work" so far:)

Another door locked, I was thinking we had the edge... We did, no worries! Check the view & @kid4life lolz!

We came to see the castle and that's what we're going to do. Searching for a way in while trying to stay on our feet...

It's not the biggest castle but its unique in its own way. Nice spots and we also saw that someone is slowly rebuilding it. Makes me think if someone is searching for a treasure of some sort...

Let us check all the spots first and talk money later lolz!
