Two Americans And Two Canadian Citizens Have Been Kidnapped In Nigeria
On their way from Kaduna to the capital Abuja, an two hour journey, they were attacked and kidnapped.
According to reports two police escorts were killed in a shootout with the kidnappers after they emerged from hiding to attack the two vehicles transporting the North Americans and the Canadian citizens.
Certain parts of the Abuja - Kaduna roads are big hits for kidnappings. Not the safest route to take when traveling from city to city.
A US State Department official stated that they know of the US citizens being kidnapped but they had no comments on the situation at the moment.
In February last year two German archaeologists were abducted in the same region, but were later freed.
There has been a big spike in kidnappings and they do not only target foreigners. Nigerians are victims of kidnappings as well.

Abuja-Kaduna road is about the most notorious with respect to kidnappings in Nigeria. This might not be unconnected with the predominantly Fulani herdsmen who roams the vast savanna grassland along that corridor. Thanks @joseph for the updates
