Latrabjarg - Iceland

Geologically ancient basalt cliffs, the heighest of which reach 1700ft, tower over the sea at this most westerly point of Iceland and Europe. It is separated from Greenland by less than 180 miles of freezing water. he Latrabjarg cliffs are 7 miles long and are alive with birds, providing a home for guillemots, cormorants, gulls, kittiwakes and puffins. Seals bask off the nearby lighthouse and water spouts reveal the presence of passing whales.
