Prechistenka Street is the center of Moscow. Here, land and real estate are very expensive, there is noise from cars, crowds of passers-by and historical buildings. One of these buildings is the estate of the guard cornet Pavel Okhotnikov, which was built after the Moscow fire of 1812. In the second half of the 19th century, the estate passed to the merchants Pegov. The estate was rented from the Pegovs by the teacher Lev Polivanov for his private boys' gymnasium, where many poets of the Silver Age studied. After the Bolsheviks came to power, the State Academy of Artistic Sciences was located in the building, and at present, the building of the former estate has been given to children - within its walls are located children's art and music schools. But this was a preface, because I want to show not the building of the estate itself, but its courtyard.

The estate courtyard is interesting because it contains two service buildings, unique in their architecture on the scale of Moscow.

These semicircular buildings are former estate stables and coach houses, added on in the 20th century. They have now been converted into art studios and apartments.

I came across this courtyard completely by accident. I was walking down the street and noticed that the road to the courtyard was paved with cobblestones. This is very unusual for Moscow. I looked into the courtyard and could not believe my eyes. It was as if I had ended up in the century before last! Two-story buildings of unusual architecture, a cobblestone courtyard, lots of greenery, incredible silence for the center of a metropolis and, most importantly, the preserved spirit of the 19th century make this courtyard truly unique. I think I will come here more than once to take a break from the bustle of Moscow and enjoy the atmosphere of tranquility.

Улица Пречистенка — центр Москвы. Здесь очень дорогие земля и недвижимость, шум от машин, толпы прохожих и исторические здания. Одно из таких зданий — усадьба гвардии корнета Павла Охотникова, которая была построена после московского пожара 1812 года. Во второй половине XIX века усадьба перешла к купцам Пеговым, после чего усадьбу у Пеговых арендовал педагог Лев Поливанов под свою частную мужскую гимназию, в которой учились многие поэты Серебряного века. После прихода к власти большевиков в здании разместилась Государственная академия художественных наук, а в настоящее время здание бывшей усадьбы отдано детям — в ее стенах располагаются детские художественная и музыкальная школы. Но это было предисловие, потому что я хочу показать не само здание усадьбы, а ее двор.

Двор усадьбы интересен тем, что на его территории расположены два хозяйственных корпуса, уникальных по своей архитектуре в масштабах Москвы.

Эти полукруглые здания — бывшие, уже в ХХ веке надстроенные, конюшни и каретные сараи. Теперь они переоборудованы в художественные студии и квартиры.

Я наткнулась на этот двор совершенно случайно. Я шла по улице и заметила, что дорога во двор вымощена булыжником. Это очень необычно для Москвы. Я заглянул во двор и не поверила своим глазам. Я словно попала в позапрошлый век! Необычной архитектуры двухэтажные здания, вымощенный брусчаткой двор, большое количество зелени, невероятная для центра мегаполиса тишина и главное, сохранившийся дух XIX века, делают этот двор поистине уникальным. Думаю, я еще не раз сюда загляну, чтобы отдохнуть от московской суеты и насладиться атмосферой спокойствия.
