Creative work is filled with frustration

Working in a creative area can be really rewarding and it can make you feel amazing every time you complete a project that people love. Even if you work on something fairly small every day, like writing articles, the feeling you get when you see people enjoy what you're creating is really nice.

But from the outside everything can look good. If you look at programmers who spend hours coding you see some happy people capable of typing all kind of codes into a computer that you don't yet understand, creating all kind of games or software without any type of difficulty.

We only see that because all the hours they had to spend understanding certain concepts, all the bugs they had to solve and all the compatibility problems they had to avoid aren't visible out there. Those things are hidden in the experience of the programmer and help him or her be better. The end result, the person who can code amazing things, you only get to see that.

It's the same with almost every area that involves creativity. It's easy to look at a writer who managed to write several books or thousands of articles and think "I should start writing as well, it's so easy, I just put words on paper".

The reason some think that is because they don't see what's behind all that work - they don't see the struggle of the author when trying to think about new topics to approach, all the criticism the writer receives when sharing his opinion or all the hours he has to spend editing his work again and again just to make it better for the reader.

We don't always see the hard part creators have to go through in order for us to enjoy the content they create. We just see the end result and assume it's easy. However, even the smaller things are pretty hard to make when you don't have enough experience or enough ideas.

Creative work is just the same. We see artists who draw all kind of amazing things, writers who manage to publish amazing writings and programmers who can code entire applications in just weeks and share them online just to become famous within days. We don't see the struggle behind all that work.

And this is something everyone who wants to work in a creative field should be aware of. People who want to do creative work should always remember that it's not an easy task. You need a lot of patience and you need to be willing to deal with a lot of frustration whenever you fail.

It's not as hard as you may think, but it's not easy either. If you're not prepared to face frustration and failure, then you'll probably give up really fast and that's always a shame because who knows, you may be a great content creator and your creative work may actually change some people.

But you need to be patient if you want to work in this area and make sure you're willing to both experiment and fail multiple times. If you have no problem with that then start working on your projects and show us what you're capable of. If you're still not sure, make up your mind fast and start doing something.
