Reporting For Duty
Hey Jesteemians
Let's pour out a beer for those who are still at the office and kick our shoes off to do a well-deserved bout of nothing after a work week. Ain't that just the circle of life Mufasa told us all about, didn't he?
While I'm no stranger to doing my bit and completing an honest days work I do feel a lot of what I do is merely cosmetic. During this time of the month, I usually spend my time creating reports and insights on how various websites performed over the previous month.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy looking at data, creating reports, spotting trends and extracting insights if they are going to be turned into actionable points. There is a lot of value in tracking performance and user behaviour and then proactively going out and making changes to improve your metrics, that's kinda how this internet thing works, a big old gamification if you will.

The sad truth
Unfortunately, minimal action is taken, people want reports even if they did zero work to their website and expect insights lol. If you do nothing don't expect anything yet here I am validating why nothing is happening, its pretty simple but I don't get recruited to provide simple answers.
I get paid to provide long, convoluted answers that inflate egos and make it seem like what we're doing is highly technical and somewhat revolutionary when it's not.
I'm just a guy standing in front of a spreadsheet asking it to provide me with enough detail to slang some bull that will hopefully appease the powers that be.
Lol, reporting is fine, when it's not looked at or just needed for a just in case we need to go back, or just so we have a reference I think its a complete waste of time.
The modern world has plenty of us sitting around performing useless tasks for cash, but hey not to worry soon all this will be automated. You'll be out of a job, and you know what? It may not be that bad a problem to deal with if you're confident in yourself and your abilities you can find so many surprising ways to fill your time.

Lol some people will always find themselves in advantageous positions in the system, if it happens to be you, you wouldn't be complaining unless you actually had ambitions that were more than just money related. Thanks for stopping by i will check out your blog
I wake up, get dressed... ok I lie probably just see what I am wearing is good enough or maybe swap a shirt. Brush teeth maybe take a dump, but can save that for work so I can be 5minutes less in the shop. I make coffee(this is actually important to my survival) . I say "How can I help you?" to customers that come in and if they ask how I am then I repeat, " How can I help you?" I print the pathetic shit they want and listen with a stone face to what ever crap they have to say which makes them feel like they are functioning humans with lives and thoughts that maybe matter to others. Then I go home (this is important again) . I go on steem, whaleshares, drugwars and stuff... Yeah I think I need to reevaluate a few things :)
Lol truth me told I lived the same kinda routine for a long time except I don't drink coffee or smoke so I just used that on dumping time and extended that till I could go home. We all have to deal with those still in Zombieland I'm just trying to not get sucked back in

While I do find my job rewarding (sort of anyway lol), the monotonous daily grind tends meld the work days into gray lumps of work weeks. Some days it dawns on me that weeks have passed by with me almost in a daze, like a hamster on a wheel..
Thankfully I do have a dream/ goal of living and working for myself to keep me going and I know I am making progress towards it everyday, even if its only a few inches closer.
A job is a means to an end, most people’s end is buying a lot of stuff and then hoping to retire that’s why they gotta work so damn long
Free yourself from a lot of this consumerism and desires and just live life on your terms you’ll find your job will reward you in more ways! You’ll find more freedom because you’ll have less stress and like you say eventually you’ll inch towards your end goal!
Hopefully we’ll both be at that same finish line
