5 Reasons Why You Should Avoid Cheap WordPress Hosting
One of the main critical elements of your success on the Internet is your web host. If your web host is creating problems, you will not be able to focus on the development and promotion of your website. And, if your website is flat, you will not be able to include ads, which will result in no income. So the question that arises is: how to find the right host? Which web host to choose for your WordPress website among thousands on the Internet.
Of course, you can choose from the fastest hosting for wordpress, which could provide a 100 percent service without paying out thousands of dollars. If your goal is to keep costs down while comprising on the performance and security of your WordPress website, you can opt for cheap hosting. However, many of these hosts compensate for their low prices by using subterfuges or so-called "dirty games" to extract the smallest profit from their customers.
I strongly advise you to read the following reasons to keep you informed of how hosts are trying to rip off their customers and the general principles to avoid cheap WordPress hosting providers.
Reasons to Avoid Cheap WordPress Hosting
With the advent of fierce competition in the hosting industry, many web hosts have started to make false and misleading statements to attract WordPressers to this industry. And, thus, they use dirty tricks, ashamed to extort the customers. I reveal to you the 5 reasons why you should avoid cheap WordPress hosting.
1. Long Periods of Closure
Did you see pricing plan per month such as “Popular Plan” or $1 or $3? Most of the time, these prices are valid only if you pay in advance one or two full year(s). This means that no matter how bad the service is after 30 days of testing, you have no right to recover your money and no way to escape this scam. And, let us tell you from our own experience that even the "model students" of the hosting industry are corrupting themselves!
2. Unreasonable Restrictions
Many web hosts impose excessive restrictions on users. They can include limiting the number of domains, a daily bandwidth limit, a file size limit, a database size limit, not being able to use some popular scripts, and so on. A cheap host does not allow customers to use the FTP software but rather forces them to use an online interface. Therefore, users will have a lot of trouble downloading hundreds of files like when they install WordPress.
A very similar web host also imposes a file size limit of just a few KB and a database size of just 10 MB even if they offer their customers hundreds of GBs of disk space and thousands GB of bandwidth. Try to fill these spaces over a lifetime if you can!
Yet another host claims to offer a bandwidth of 3000 GB per month, however, they have a threshold of 10 GB per day (not to cross). This means that, in any case, you cannot use more than 300 GB of bandwidth per month. And, there are many web hosts who lie to you in this way so be careful now!
3. Super Sneaky Contracts
Do not focus on what is written in fine print on the contract. Generally what is said in small is: if your website starts to gain popularity, we will kick you out unless you apply for a more expensive program.
Do you want to know another super sneaky clause that most cheap web hosts have? Even if you have a 30-day guarantee and you decide to cancel your contract after 30 days, when you claim your money, you will have to pay the installation fee of about $30. If you consider the annual fees of these hustlers is like having 80 or 90 fallow deer!
4. Poor Quality Infrastructure
One of the reasons why these hosts are able to offer services at such a low price and remain in the industry is that they cut prices unscrupulously. Typically, cutting prices involves poor server infrastructure and networks. This usually results in a decrease in the reliability and quality of the services offered.
It also goes with the customer support since a highly skilled technical team is expensive, cheap web hosts opt for other options. They usually delegate their support to people in Third World countries and recruit workers with a minimum of skill level. The result is poor customer support.
5. Hidden Costs
Many people do not realize when they pay for a very cheap hosting package even if they get disk space and bandwidth having a size that goes well beyond that you need, the power features are missing. If your WordPress website becomes known, imagine what will it be if your hosting does not anticipate in your success?
I have noticed that for some web hosts, it's simply a numbers game. If you are dissatisfied and leave your web host, it will be very difficult for you to tarnish that company's image with hundreds of thousands of customers.
Wrapping Up!
Am I saying that all web hosts are cheap and should be avoided? Absolutely not! I now use Cloudways — managed WordPress hosting over a long period of time before falling back on a web host (not to mention the name). Nevertheless, I have a lot of trouble with the cheap hosts who go so far as to attract, deceive their new customers and keep them locked up by force or cunning.
On the point of cutting down costs from their extremely-wonderful-expired-spaghetti-like-rubbish-and-stupid infrastructure design, you reminded me of some comments I saw regarding another cheap web host. Someone mentioned that there was a security issue with them before, they were hacked and found out that they store their users' password in plain text. Extremely wonderful.
Indeed, you need to invest in something better if you want something better. There's no real discount in this world. I don't really want to talk about the hidden tricks they use to make their promotion page look so good. I have a calculator and I know the limit of your plans, throw the maths at me. Most of the times they are really disgusting and immature. Like really.
Good luck with your current web host, I don't host anything myself but it's nice to see what happened around :)
