Word Poetry Challenge #7: Memories
Struggling to survive
Another distance day
Strolling with a stranger
Memories gone astray
Lingering in the dark
Shadows race away
Trying to tell my story
Memories gone astray
Cruising on the ocean
Calm, blue waters sway
Drifting hopes erasing
Memories gone astray
Reflection in the mirror
Brown hair fades to grey
Looking at a portrait
Memories gone astray
Signals flashing red
Directions say one-way
Passing screeching cars
Memories gone astray
Words trapped in rhythm
Sounds come out to play
Babbling in the shower
Memories gone astray
Hugs and kisses looming
Good times slip away
Loving family visits
Memories good today

Update: Word Poetry Challenge #7 : 2nd runner-up
I like this poem even though it makes me feel kind of sad. The symptoms of dementia and sometimes alzheimers in the elderly can be a challenge for family and friends. The good news is there are occasional good days.
Thank you, @jluvs2fly. I always try to bring attention to people who are forgotten or unnoticed and issues that elevate the conscience.
