Woodworking on Steem Discord Server Update

Hi, @skycranehandwork here,

Taking a break from water sampling to bring you an update on the latest stuff happening over on the Woodworking on Steem Discord Server.

New Channels

I have added a new channel called "Shop Tours" for you to leave a link to your steem posts about,... wait for it,... your shop tour.

If you would like to share a quick video or set of photos about your workshop, its layout, equipment, your giant wood stash, no matter how humble, please, feel free to make a steem post, then link to it on discord, and we can all make fun of what a mess it is.

Here is an example from @graz11 (it's not a mess)

I have also added a category called Curators Archive. This is meant to be a reading room for great woodworking posts that I feel have long term informative or entertainment value, from all members of the steem woodworking community.

I think it is a shame that some great posts are lost in time, because of the 7 day limit on voting. The posts are still there on the steem block chain, but there is no good way to find them.

For example, @jist has written a great 6 part series of posts about how to start a woodworking business, but you would need to scroll back though his blog several months to find them all.

But now, you can access them from the Curators Archive under "The Business Side"

There are other topics as well, like "timber milling and framing" and "woodturning." I will be adding topics like "tool reviews," "joinery," "kids projects and gifts" soon.

So if you find a post in the archive you think is worthy, maybe start following its creator and upvote some of their more recent posts as well.

The archive will be read only, picked by me, but I will be open to suggestion for new categories and entries. I will try not to cram it full of my own posts.

Contest Update

All week 2 contest entries have been linked in the weekly contest channel. Winners will be announced later today by @jist . Take a look at the entries and see which ones you would pick.

For week 3, the contest is moving over to @woodworkcurators

https://steemit.com/woodworking/@woodworkcurators/weekly-woodworking-competition-3

So head over there and post your entries in the comments. To qualify, you must resteem and upvote the contest post.

That is all the news for now. Lots of great stuff happening in the woodworking community. Keep building.

Until next time,
@skycranehandwork

We have started a woodworking community here on steemit and would welcome you. Come join us on our discord channel, click the link and follow the directions to sign up here: https://discord.gg/v9YaGYw
