Pie Crust Tea Table, One Last Detail
The tilt top needs a latch.
So what do you do with a cracked up old scrap of desert ironwood?
It was originally meant to be a part of a handmade marking gauge, but it broke when I went to punch out the mortice. I think it will make a good toggle to hold down the tilt top tea table.
I went at it with a rasp.
Until I got the shape I wanted,
Went through the grits of sandpaper,
Until it gleamed in the sun.
Soaked overnight in oil.
Screwed in just tight enough to let it swivel.
Cut a mortice in the hinge base.
Here it is in action right side up.
And that is the finishing touch.
Thanks for looking and let me know what you think,
Until next time,
