You and these veneers. You take challenges? Make a “nightstand” out of oak pallets ... pine acceptable in a pinch... a drawer and a door... no hardware your choice... or an inset to pull it open.
I don't need any nightstand. I do need a big bookcase. I have a small stack of walnut that a guy said came out of an old barn. We'll see.
