New windows and doors installed today
Hi all,
One of the improvements for efficiency and comfort we knew we would need when we bought this house is new windows and doors. Well, today they're going in!
This is an expensive upgrade for sure, but a huge improvement to the property.

We talked to an appraiser and from his stand point new windows add almost no value to the appraisal. My wife and I were dissappointed because we had 10 almost floor to ceiling windows that we pretty much had to get replaced due to how much cold air they let in during the winter.
Yeah, it's more of a living comfortable type thing, when it's - 50 degrees in January here these will be much better!
Nice! New windows are indeed expensive. But worth it in the end. Did you diy, or have an installer come in?
An installer came, and I'm DIYing some of the stuff., Like wiring and trim.
Nice. It can definitely be cheaper to diy, but it takes waaaay longer haha. It pays to hire someone for some of those bigger jobs for sure. Hope you'll show us your progress as it happens!
Yeah, doing trim and reinstalling door hardware, running the security wires makes a big difference on the cost.
Looks good man! Sure beats putting bubble wrap over the windows during the winter!
Sure does, last couple winters we used the plastic sheeting you stick on then shrink with a hair dryer, helped but not a great solution.

Nice. New windows block sound too, great for city dwellers. Love the big window, does it open?
Big window opens on both sides. Yeah highway noise should be reduced
Oh thanks, I couldn't tell for sure.
