In contrast to the deciduous forests in the coniferous forests, no leaves fall on the ground but needles. This completely eliminates the red color and the lush green of the ferns and mosses takes over the ground-level color scheme at the beginning of autumn. Im Gegensatz zu den Laubwäldern fallen in den Nadelwäldern keine Blätter auf den Boden sondern Nadeln. Damit entfällt die rote Farbe fast vollständig und das satte Grün der Farne und Moose übernimmt die bodennahe Farbgestaltung zu Beginn des Herbstes.
