(My First Toy Review!!!) MAFEX No. 24 Wonder Woman

in #wonderwoman7 years ago (edited)

I have never done any toy reviews of any kind in the internet, so this officially will be my first one. We can’t deny that this year’s Wonder Woman was an awesome and, for some, emotional movie. Besides the movie was Gal Gadot's portrayal of the heroine. But we all know Wonder Woman already appeared in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Initial reactions regarding the new Wonder Woman costume were mixed, if not mostly negative. Die-hard fans of the character went as far as criticizing Gal’s breast size! But either way, we all basked in Gal’s entrance scene and that empowering background music (which is the new Wonder Woman theme).

Medicom Toys' MAFEX toy line has released last 1st quarter of 2017 the three protagonists of Batman v Superman. Here, I present to you, Wonder Woman!

The set includes the Wonder Woman figure, the Sword of Athena, a shield, a pair of Lassos of Hestia (one rolled up, one extended), three pairs of hands (L/R open, L/R for holding the sword, L/R for holding the shield handle or lasso), and a display stand.

The facial sculpt is not as accurate, nor similar to the promotional images and the prototype displayed in the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, but it is acceptable. You can see more of the resemblance to Gal when you look at the side.

MAFEX clearly paid attention to the detailing and paintjob of the sword and shield. Superb.

Actually, MAFEX did not really design her belt to hang the sword and shield, but I've found a hack that did the trick. ;)

Bad ass!

The set comes with two versions of the Lasso of Hestia, a rolled one that can be hanged on her belt and an extended, bendable one. The latter is not actually molded for action poses, but can be manipulated for such.

Wonder Woman's hair is solid, and it hinders any attempt rotate her head in any fashion. Nonetheless, the paint application looks fine.

The overall paint is crisp, especially her torso armor's and boots’ metallic red and and her skirt's metallic blue. One odd thing was they painted her eyebrows with the same gold paint from her tiara.

Recreating Wonder Woman from her No Man's Land scene!

The figure is poseable in a variety of ways, with the only snag being her head. MAFEX's signature display stand is very useful for her poses, since the figure itself is not always stable in some poses.

The right arm of my figure was somewhat loose, but can be unnoticeable. Overall, it is not a perfect figure, but I’d recommend this if you’re looking for a budget-friendly, near-accurate sculpt of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. This figure costed me $45 at a local toy convention but due to the popularity of the new movie, prices are expected to surge. There are sellers who already priced the figure for $65 and above.

MAFEX has also announced the solo movie version of Wonder Woman due at the end of the year. Hopefully, it will look better than the BvS version. To add, Bandai has released images of Ben Affleck's Batman action figure for the upcoming film Justice League. I am also hoping they will plan on releasing Wonder Woman, since Bandai's sculpts are superior than MAFEX's
