World's Tallest Tree (hyperion california)
The world's tallest tree record originally held by a redwood tree, named after the Giant Stratosphere, has been broken. Scientists found three trees in a forest in northern California that is higher than the tree. US forestry official Rick Nolan said the scientists found it by accident. While following a trail in the dense jungle near Eureka, California in the summer, they found the three redwood beaches higher than the 113-meter-high Stratosphere Giant.
Superintendent of the Redwood National Park said the tallest tree of the three trees reached 115.2 meters, and was named Hyperion. But additional measurements will be made to confirm the new record, before declaring Hyperion the highest tree. There are strong allegations that these three trees are bigger than trees grown in coastal redwood ecosystems.
The thickness of California's redwood forest canopy obstructs the view of scientists who want to measure the height of trees. In addition to struggling down the vast forests, scientists were forced to climb three trees to drop the line to the forest floor to get accurate figures. It is impossible for someone on the ground to choose which is higher than all three.
These natural growing trees are much more impressive than anything man has built. It is a great sin to chop something like this down. Let's do more to protect our ancient and old-growth forests.
