She really was an inspiring woman. Think of fighting for academic equality all your life and only achieve it two years before dying. Her husband was pretty amazing too. How many men in that time would have supported a woman as ambitious as her?

And yes, her husband * ___ * is amazing. He became her subordinate! What courage! What support! I feel a lot of admiration for the both of them, truly!
I read last night after posting, that her husband was even the one to encourage her exploration of experimental physics and that he was the TA to her predecessor and the natural choice to be appointed chair but that he deferred to her.
Even more amazing.
