International Woman's Day

The Women's Day is celebrated around the world in 55 countries since 1910. The march, organized on February 28, 1909 in New York, is considered the first celebration of the Women's Day. He commemorated the strikes of women working in the textile industry.

The first International Women's Day was celebrated on March 19, 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. In the following years, the festival came to other countries, and in 1914 it was established that it will be on March 8.

Nowadays, the Women's Day in the world is celebrated very differently.

For example, in Italy and Russia, women get twigs of silver acacia and chocolate.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, Moldova, Macedonia, Slovakia, Serbia and Hungary, women most often get flowers.

In Portugal, women go to parties or dinner with friends on March 8

In Poland, feminists' marches are very often organized on this day.
