I also want to set up a backup witness node. I read your post above and your description how i can message about a missing block. The autoswitch script is also very interesting. I think i would change this code to switch the witness node if the server is unreachable.

But I don't know if I have understood that correctly:
Is it sufficient to change the signing key (by the 'witness_update' operation) to switch between the main and backup node?

And the config.ini of the main node and backup node contains the same witness account but different signing keys?

I hope you can help me with your experience. :-)
